Who didn’t love taking color Polaroid pics? For pros and enthusiasts alike, the slow reveal was magical and the quality was great. Nothing like it (even in this era of instant digital gratification). So when the legendary Polaroid 600 film was discontinued in 2008, a colorless void opened up and gloom spread across the land.

Time to cheer up, because the Impossible Project is now offering a brand-new instant color film for Polaroid 600 and SX-70 cameras: PX 680 Color Shade. This first release is a limited-edition film called “First Flush” – and you can see the kind of cool, character-filled color images it delivers below.

So if you’ve got a Polaroid, get on out into the sunshine, and have some fun with this terrific new film. There just might be a few Blurb books on the horizon…

  1. Good to know that our Polaroid cameras can be spared from early retirement. I’d however wish for a serious substitute for the SX-70 film. http://www.blurb.com/books/2162303

  2. The new Polaroid film stock from the supercool Impossible Project will no doubt begin to influence all Blurb lovers. I’ve used 12 ghostly “silver shade” shots in my forthcoming book, “The Ecology of Memory”. Polaroid , then as now, looks and feels like an otherwordly art-form. It ain’t cheap but it is magical !
