Promoting a new book is a lot of work, but it’s a labor of love. From utilizing social media like Twitter, Facebook, the blogosphere, and your own personal websites, there is also the ever glorious book tour. Traveling from city to city doing book readings to promote your latest work is a great way to connect with your audience and win over new readers. But let’s be honest here – leaving for weeks at a time to promote your book isn’t exactly the easiest thing to do.
We heard about Laural Snyder’s new take on book tours and simply had to share. A mother of two who couldn’t get away for a “traditional” book tour, Snyder decided to reach out to her friends and fans instead. Rather then traveling herself, Snyder created Author Kits, containing a copy of her new book, signed bookplates, and a t-shirt that reads “*I’m* Laurel Snyder Author by Proxy.” Those who took part performed readings of her latest book, and in return will be included by name in her next book!
What are some inventive ways you’ve come up with to promote your books? Have any suggestions for new bookmakers on how to get their work out in front of the world?
