Remember the days when you’d call up an editor, pitch a story, and shoot (gulp) rolls and rolls of film? Okay, maybe you never did that – but that’s the way it was done back in the day. It all came rushing back when we came across this documentary on A Photo Editor. It features photojournalist David Burnett’s month-long shoot of one of the last big cattle drives in the American West and the furious pitching and editing that ensued. Check out the phones, the hair, the contact sheets, and the one thing we’re truly loath to see gone – multi-page coverage of great photojournalism in multiple international magazines. By the way, if you want to catch up and see what David is up to these days, check out this interview with him on Photoshelter.
