A big Blurb shout-out to our partners at SalaamGarage. Through their work connecting citizen journalists (i.e. camera-toting, media-savvy travelers like you) with international non-governmental organizations and local non-profits, they’re blazing new trails in digital storytelling.
Last August, SalaamGarage brought seven citizen journalists to Guatemala, where they immersed themselves in Agros International’s unique community development projects.
The group, which ranged from pro photographers to a grandmother and granddaughter team, collected their photographs, interviews, and insights and created a beautiful Blurb book, as well as other awareness-raising projects.
You’ll find the book in our Blurb for Good bookstore – and for every copy you buy, we’ll donate an additional $1 to Agros International.
We’re thrilled that SalaamGarage has made Blurb part of the way they share their efforts with the world – and we’re hoping you take a minute to learn more about SalaamGarage.
And if you’re wondering what the lasting impact of your own SalaamGarage adventure might be, check out what Christina Cummings of Agros International has to say: “The SalaamGarage Guatemala trip led to life-altering conversations across cultures. As one participant told an Agros community member, ‘I’m changed forever. Because of our meeting, I am going to rethink how I live my life.’”
What an amazing way to connect travel and creativity with a purpose.
