Looking for a quick way to add a special touch to your book? Consider the way you use color. We often look for bright, colorful photos to put on our pages or splash across the cover, but once we get to the text, most of us tend to think in black or white. Adding a bit of well-chosen color to the text can have a big impact on your book’s overall design.
Changing Text Color
If you’re making a book online with Blurb Bookify™, you have the option to change the color of your text with just two clicks. Here’s how:

In this example, we’re looking at the cover of a book about roses. With the black background and white text, it looks nice but maybe a little bland. Click on the title to bring up the font formatting controls:

There’s a blank square box in the middle of the control panel. That shows the color of your selected text. Click and drag with your mouse to select the text you want to color, then click inside the square box. You’ll be presented with a lovely color selector like this:

Click on any color in the selector to apply it to your text, then click “Done” to close the selector.
Using the Eyedropper Tool
Now for the really cool part. One great way to make sure you pick a color that works well on the page is to use a color that’s already on the page, because it’s in your photo. In this case, let’s use that bright, juicy red from the rose. We could spend time playing with the color picker trying to get it just right, but Bookify’s Eyedropper tool makes the process much simpler.
Go back to the font control panel, select the text you want to change, and then look for the eyedropper icon next to the color box. Click it, and your mouse pointer turns into a little eyedropper.

Place the eyedropper directly over the color you want to use. Click again, and your text changes instantly to that color! Click “Done” in the control box when you’re done.

If you don’t like the color you’ve applied, you can always change it again using either of the techniques we just tried. Try it yourself and see what a little color can do for your text!
