Attended by hundreds of supporters and friends, the AU Review celebrated their book launch and 4th birthday in style, with a night celebrating the music of The Beatles at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory. Members of Dappled Cities, Deep Sea Arcade, City Riots, Regular John, Cameras, Lime Cordiale, Guineafowl, and Chance Waters with Lilian Blue were among the local artists to feature on the night. They played tribute to the classic Beatles record Magical Mystery Tour, AU Review founder (and book author) Larry’s Heath’s favourite record.
During the night I asked Larry’s father when Larry first became interested in music. He said Larry had been interested in music since the age of 9. Their family lived in California where young Larry was the voice of Radio Disney which was broadcast all over the United States. He has been hooked ever since.
Australia’s Year in Music 2011 is a 192-page journey through the music of last year, featuring dozens of events and festivals, hundreds of bands, and thousands of photos from 60 Australian photographers. The book looks back at the festivals, bands, and concerts that shaped the Australian musical landscape. The books features a choice of seven limited edition covers.
The next book Larry plans to publish with Blurb is a book about musicans and their favourite percussion instruments. Followed by, of course, Australia’s Year in Music 2012.
