Our vantage point on the balcony in the Quad let us watch the dozens of folks toting their portfolios to portfolio reviews. We saw some serious faces, smiles, and lots of camera bags. When you have 500 attendees pouring through the festival every day, you get to meet some great people … some known and unknown photographers who’ve got amazing futures ahead of them. We were surrounded by street photography photos taken in Afghanistan from Humvee windows to faces of commuters from around the world. Highlights of the launch weekend also included talks by festival patrons Joel Meyerowitz and Brian Griffin.
We met some Blurb authors for the first time. As always, it’s really great to see the faces behind the photography behind the books. Plus, we couldn’t be prouder of the 20 whose books we showcased at our stand. It was fantastic to see others enjoy these books and to hear the conversations they started.
Big thanks to all who stopped by and said hi; to Sam Mellish, who shared the images and stories behind his book; Foto8 and its Carousel Slide Slam; to Tony, forums participant extraordinaire; and the folks who pulled together Format for the fifth time. And congrats to the three who got best of show in the portfolio review. We can’t wait to see your work in a book!
The festival runs though the beginning of April. If you’re in the area, catch it while you can.
