People have been asking for more photo book templates, so we’re super pleased to be launching the Designer Collection. From the clean, granite lines of Austin, to the instant-film-inspired Catalina, each stylish template is designed by Laura Brunow Miner to give our Small Square (7 x 7 inches) photo books added aplomb. Here’s a quick how-to guide to get you up and running.
Step 1: Get Started
The first thing you’ll want to do is go to our Designer Collection page and choose the book template you want. Pick one and click “Get Started.” Not sure which one will go best with your photos? Don’t worry, you can always change your mind later.
Step 2: Get your photos
If you’re familiar with Blurb Bookify, then you’ll be right at home here. You can pull your photos from a variety of sources: your computer, Flickr, SmugMug, Facebook, Instagram, and more.
Step 3: Choose your flow
As with other Bookify books, you can choose to have your book autocreated, or you can choose to place your photos yourself.
If you choose to place your own photos, you’ll just drag and drop them from the image tray. Note that unlike other Bookify books, you can only have one image per page with our Designer Collection templates.
Optional: Change your design
But wait, maybe you want to know if your photos look better in a different template. Click “Change Design” at the top of the page to select a different template. We suggest doing this before you tinker too much with layouts, since changing templates will reset some of your customization (like font and image zoom). Here are three examples:
Step 4: Shuffle your layouts
Here’s the fun part. With the Designer Collection, layouts will be chosen for you based on the orientation of your photos (portrait or landscape). But there are a number of different variations you can choose from by clicking the shuffle button. Keep clicking until you find one you like. This is from the Catalina book template. Perfect for Polaroid photos, don’t you think?
Step 5: Add text
Some layouts allow for text. Simply click in an image container to add text. You can change the color, font, and font size too. Check to make sure your text doesn’t have any awkward linebreaks though. Here’s an example with the Austin book template:
Step 5: Design your cover
You can design your cover at any time, of course, but we think it’s a nice final step. Simply click “Design Cover” at the top of the page, and you’ll be able to drag and drop photos into the image containers on your cover. Some covers allow for one image, while some have slots for four (remember this if you’ve changed templates). You’ll also want to enter your book title and author name. You can also customize the spine, back cover, and flaps (if you’re making a Hardcover Dust Jacket book).
Step 6: Preview and order
Once you’ve placed your images on the pages and the cover, it’s time to take final look in preview and then order your book. Books start at $12.99. So jump in and play around. We think you’ll like how your photos look in our Designer Collection.
