If you’ve ever picked up a used book and found a heartfelt personal inscription or a long-forgotten slip of paper inside, you know how fascinating that little peek into a book’s history can be. Who owned the book? Who gave it to them? Where are they now? And sometimes: What were they thinking?
We’re not talking about witty notes from and signatures of famous, or not-so-famous authors, although those are great, too. We’re talking love notes, birthday dedications, inspirational sayings, cryptic messages, and mini-reviews from the just-plain-folks who once gave and owned these books.
If you want to see more, head on over to The Book Inscription Project, where you can check out tons of book-inscription finds, and also submit your own. Hey, you just might find inspiration there for your next dedication – written, of course, in a book you made yourself.
