With nearly 1,000 books currently available in Blurb’s public bookstore, you Blurbarians are making it almost impossible for us to single out just one book of the week. But Rod Gregg is no stranger to long odds, as he describes in his moving book 1,661,220 Inches in a Marathon. Rod chronicles his 187 days in the hospital in a fight for his life with acute pancreatitis, and the result is a compelling first-hand account of fortitude, faith, and a sneaky sense of humor on the long road to recovery. For Rod and everyone else out there who has survived life-threatening illness to greet the new year: We can’t imagine a more fitting Book of the Week to begin 2007. Congratulations, Rod, Jackie, and family – after your marathon year, here’s hoping the next is full of easy graces and carefree strolls.
Even as we greet the new year, the holiday spirit lingers at Blurb, thanks to you Blurbarians who’ve been putting holiday wishes in print for friends and family. Operation Sherri Cheer is a book of well wishes for Sherri Prestangen from the many friends she continues to inspire in her courageous struggle with leukemia. Sherri, we wish you health – clearly you’ve got strength and friendship covered.
And to Blurbarians everywhere: A very happy, healthy 2007 to you & yours.
