Last April, photographer Beth Akerman debuted the results of an ambitious project to collect the best work from female photographers on Google+. This week we saw the premier of the second volume: How we see it… more views of our worlds. Like the previous volume, this collective book assembles not just photographs, but also poetry and essays, from the passionate and vibrant photographic community that’s grown around Google+.
Akerman has carefully curated the selections so that the book, despite being a collective project, has a cohesive feel. There’s a kind of contemplative hush that pervades the entire volume. This volume puts an even greater focus on the written word, balancing images with essays and poetry.
As with the first volume, Akerman will donate the proceeds to the NOW Foundation’s Love Your Body Campaign which seeks to promote healthy body images for women. Blurb will be matching the proceeds (up to $500) – so go pick up a copy in the Blurb online bookstore and explore a beautiful world of photography while supporting an important cause.
