Books by the color. Books by the type. Books by the foot (or meter, as the case may be). Vintage books. Books creatively re-covered. According to this New York Times article, the book has found its place as an objet d’art everywhere from designer libraries to spas to Vegas hotels.
But unlike the days when any old leatherbound tome would do, interior designers are finding that their clients actually want to amass instant libraries of books they actually might read (imagine that!).
Still, as the article reports, there are plenty of people requesting a library palette of earth tones, or as one national builder asked of Wonder Book, a book supplier in Maryland, books only in the blue and gray range to outfit model homes.
What does your library look like? My bookshelves are a hodge podge of all kinds of books – not color-coordinated, but definitely well loved.
