Eat, drink, and make books! More Blurb holidays coming up

The big holiday rush is nearly over. We’re exhilarated and just plain happy to see so many great books getting made. More U.S. holidays are coming up and we wanted to let you know how they’ll affect your bookmaking over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Blurb HQ will be quiet on December 24, 25, 31, and January 1. What this means is that none of these days will be considered a business day with regard to book production. Please plan accordingly, recognizing that books require 5 to 6 business days to print. Likewise, our shipping partners will also be operating on limited holiday schedules. (Check out the UPS holiday calendar here). You should allow extra business days to compensate for books made during this time if you have specific deadlines in mind.

Naturally, you can still make and order books, peruse the Forums, and submit a request to our Customer Support team. Don’t forget, you can always check your book’s status on your personal Order History page. Once you receive a shipping confirmation by email, you can track your book’s progress by a tracking number if UPS is delivering your book.

Here’s to 2008 and all that it brings.

  1. First, I’d like to thank you all for your updates and realistic, honest approach on the blog. I submitted my Christmas book order a couple days after the cut-off. I was simply wondering if there’s any chance your books ever ship a day or two earlier than quoted on order status. I find myself checking constantly. Should I quit hoping?

  2. Aubrey,

Thanks for the nice comments. Yes, sometimes a book does ship before the estimated shipping date, but no guarantees. You will get an order confirmation email as soon as it ships.

    Hope that helps.

  4. Hi Tami,

Our goal is for everyone who met the deadlines to have their books in hand by December 24. We’re working hard to make this happen, so please continue to be patient.

  5. Tami,
I lost hope for Christmas as well but in less then 24 hours my book was printed, shipped and at my door in Canada. I was bloody amazed. So I do know how you feel but keep the hope and watch your dashboard often. As soon as it gets into UPS’s hands it moves real quick. I hope your book arrives in time.

  6. To All –

I ordered my book before the December 9th, requesting two-day shipping. It’s Friday morning, December 21st, and no sign that my book has been shipped…. If it doesn’t get shipped today, based on the fact that the Blurb is closed on Monday, My folks do not receive their Christmas present!!

The situation is pretty dire. What can I do?

  7. I am curious if you guys are printing on weekends right now? I am trying to estimate my books arrival to decide where to have it shipped if i order it tonight? I see that there are a lot of holidays for the next couple of weeks. Thanks, Brandon

  8. Hi,
I am glad you are all taking time off for the holidays. Enjoy.
I just want to check on delivery for after the holiday. I did not need to get my order in for Christmas, but I did submit it on the 12th and it was estimated that it would be shipped on the 20th-it is now the 23rd and no e-mail.
I just want to avoid having to ship it again after my family has left my house because their book didn’t come.
    Any thoughts?
