After seeing BoingBoing’s link today to a hilarious Flickr pool of people using the new Nintendo Wii, I was curious whether any Blurb authors had posted photos of their books. After all, seeing your work in print for the first time can feel a lot like getting the top score in Bust-A-Move Bash. Only less sweaty.
Sure enough, after a few clicks I was enjoying ErinV’s Flickr set of her book, “Gracie,” which is all about one very photogenic dog, and konumu’s set of her gorgeous wedding book. NWilson posts the cover of his book-in-progress, “Mendocino in the Seventies.” Just looking at it made me long to be there. And here’s Langer proudly holding up his family book. Sweet!
Sure snapshots of people flinging their bodies around the living room while playing the Wii will make you laugh, but the photographs of Blurb books may very well give you warm fuzzies. Furthermore, the Wii looks like it could be painful, whereas Blurb books wouldn’t hurt a fly (unless you used one to kill flies, which would be a lot like playing the Wii). And when ErinV writes, “I received my book today from Blurb! I have to say I almost cried when I opened it,” well Wii couldn’t have put it better ourselves.
