A hearty thanks to all of you who submitted your Blurb books for consideration as showpieces at Format 11, one of the U.K.’s premiere photography festivals. The focus of this year’s festival is street photography, and we were honored to receive more than 300 fantastic book submissions from Blurbarians worldwide.
After much consideration, 20 books were chosen. Each offers a distinct look at the craft of street photography, both urban and rural. Acclaimed photographer Arthur Tress’s books, OPEN SPACE in the Inner City: Volume 1: Urban Solitude and Volume 2: Urban Teens, display his signature blend of impromptu street portraiture and artful composition. Auftakt by Roman Drits features dreamlike black and white photographs that explore the liminal space between fragments of time – the moments between action and consequence, silence and music. Coal India Limited by Srinivas Kuruganti takes us to the roads, villages, and coalmines of Northeastern India, where his photojournalistic essay reveals a spare, hard beauty.
These are just a few of the Blurb books we’ll be showing off at Format 11. If you’re going to the festival, please come by the Blurb booth to check out the rest and say hello. We’d love to see you. We’ll also be hosting some Blurb events at the festival, so mark your calendars and join us.
