A box of negatives – thousands of negatives – bought at an antiques auction has led to the discovery of perhaps the greatest street photographer of our time, Vivian Maier. Vivian died in 2009 and was a Chicago nanny for most of her life. She never left the house without a camera.
Thanks to our friend John Paul Caponigro for passing on this find. It’s an incredible story with a few great thoughts and ideas for the year ahead:
1. Take your camera with you.
2. Liberate your photos. Don’t hide them in a box (or your computer!)
3. There are artists among us, and that includes you.
Here’s to continued creativity and discovery in 2011!
