On Foster Huntington’s blog, The Burning House, he asks; If your house was burning down, what would you take with you? Respondents of all ages and from all over the world have replied with a photo of the belongings they’d grab before fleeing the fire. The photos are thought provoking and sparsely beautiful.
In today’s world where access to excess is all too simple, answering the question forces us to focus on what matters and reveal who we are at our core. In a way, it is a self-portrait of ourselves. It reveals our interests and priorities, our practical and sensible instincts, and the very heart of what we believe in.
The Burning House blog is both visually stimulating and intellectually engaging. And it’s a blog that we think is worthy of one of your computer’s bookmarks.
As a side note, we love to see that so many people have similar priorities to us. After the hypothetical house has burned down, many people will start the next chapter of their lives with a cherished book and an irreplaceable camera. For many of us at Blurb, we’d do the same.
