If you use our plug-in for Adobe® InDesign® you’ve probably noticed that there’s a new update available. It’s a required update, but don’t worry, we haven’t changed things too much. In fact, most of what’s new is all behind the scenes.
However, there’s one visible change. When you load the Blurb Template Creator, you’ll no longer see the “Text Trade” or “Text Pocket” sizes under “Choose a book size.” Instead, you’ll see just “Trade” or “Pocket” as your choices. That’s because now you can create Color Pocket- or Trade-sized books. Pocket is 5×8 inches, and Trade is 6×9. ↓
After you’ve done that, you’ll select your paper type, either “Color-White Uncoated” or “B/W-Cream Uncoated.” This affects the paper choice as well as the final printing output. Black and White books print on a cream-colored paper for easier readability. Color books print on white paper for better color reproduction. If you’re printing black and white images, you’ll probably want to choose the Color Pocket option, which means you’ll get the white paper and better reproduction for your images. ↓
Of course, no matter whether you choose Black and White or Color for your pages, you can make your cover in color.
Finally, select the number of pages, click “OK,” and start creating. Our Color Pocket and Trade books are great for designers and photographers. The look with the uncoated paper is a little bit lo-fi and it really enhances the grain in photographs. For illustrations, it’s also fantastic.
