Books are a real turn-on for us (obviously), and when someone figures out how to give an old book a new life, we’re delighted. Especially when their clever idea makes it easier for us to read.
So when we saw Typewriter Boneyard’s book lamps on Etsy, we just had to share. San Diego craftsguy Philip Hansen turns aging hardback books into one-of-a-kind table lamps that double as super-cool art objects.
Then there’s Bomdesign’s modern take on rescuing old books from the dustbin. These Dutch designers fold, cut and bend the pages of retired volumes into hanging lamps and wall sconces with retro mid-century style. If one of these were lighting up our library, we’d probably break out “Franny and Zooey” or “The Caine Mutiny” and settle in for a nice long read.
