In the old days –- less than 20 years ago and even with TV, radio, telephones, and fax machines — spreading the word was pretty much all about face-to-face communication. This method of communication still works, but nowadays email, IM, text messaging, podcasts, blogs, and video are second to none in getting the word out.
The Blurberati rely on our great BookSmart software, a “have to see it to believe it” finished product, a very intuitive Web site, and the occasional email and press release to spread the power of Blurb. Not surprisingly, more and more Blurbarians are posting pictures of their Blurb books and raving about us in their blogs. But today we have a first. Palmer, a new Blurbarian, has posted two videos: one of his first Blurb book and the other of BookSmart in action.
The book arrived last week. I have to say that I am very impressed with the quality of the pages, binding, and pictures. While the layout wouldn’t pass Random House’s quality control, the book has a certain character and quality that is all it’s own. I’ve put together a short video flipping through a few pages. Take a look.
We offer a BookSmart tour and a user manual in the Help section of the site, and hint, hint, a fun video coming soon, but if more Blurbarians help us spread the word and demo our product for us, we might be able to spend less time on press releases and more time on improving the BookSmart beta. OK, that’s not going to happen, but you never know.
So, if you’ve posted a video or a blog entry about Blurb on your blog or Web site, let us know by commenting below. We’ll post it and write about our favorites.
And thanks to Palmer. Nice videos! And even cuter kids.

Wow! I was shocked when I realized this post was about me!
I am really pleased with my book and with Blurb. I hope lots of other people try the service and have the same great experience. Booksmart is very easy to use, and I look forward to putting more books together.
And I hope word-of-mouth spreads like wildfire, allowing the Blurb techies more time to improve and expand the service. I, for one, can’t wait to see how the ‘blog slurper’ works!
