Move over, Omaha: Your legendary steaks are getting upstaged by Lincoln’s homegrown talent as our favorite Nebraskan import here at Blurb HQ. They Tow No More, our current Book of the Week, gave some of us transplanted Midwestern Blurberati major nostalgia for monumental farm equipment – and come to find out, author Ben Bird belongs to the same Lincoln Nebraska Flickr group as Chris Pultz, proud new author of Minimum Maintenance: Dirt Road Photography of the American Heartland. Check out Chris’ review of his Blurb experience (aw, thanks) and his up close and personal shots of his finished book – looking good, Chris!
So what I want to know is: What’s in the water in Lincoln, and can you please bottle it for us photographically challenged writer types? For those of you who haven’t yet been formally introduced, Lincoln is also a magnet for folk art and home to the International Quilt Study Center, the world’s leading resource on quiltmaking and organizer of exhibits that have me hoarding old clothing for future quilts – right after I master photography, ahem. If you’ll be in Nebraska come February, definitely check out Lincoln’s First Friday Gallery Walk and report back … clearly we need to keep an eye on those artistically inclined cornhuskers.
