Book of the Week is proud to be called Teacher’s Pet

My friend Lindsay’s mom was a kindergarten teacher. She would come home from work and always have crazy and/or unidentifiable stains on her sleeves. They were from the little kids holding on to her arms and hugging on her while their hands and mouths were covered with PB&J, chocolate pudding cups, Go-GURT, whatever.

I’m no neat freak, but that grossed me out. Clearly I’m not meant to teach a classroom of 5-year-olds. But Mrs. Hanson and Mrs. Denison are, as you’ll see in this dual Book of the Week nod to two wonderful kindergarten teachers.

In Some More! Some More! we see the creativity and joy cultivated in Mrs. Hanson’s classroom. This book is a student project in which the little kids used digital cameras, iPhoto, KidPix, and Comic Life. (I guess we’ve come a long way from fingerpainting and pasting macaroni on construction paper.)

The book, We Love You Mrs. Denison, documents the reasons why teacher, Mrs. Denison, is adored. She’s sweet, nice, solves problems, and has a treasure box. (I’m thinking we could all use a Mrs. Denison in our life.) Congratulations to these Book of the Week authors and the teachers who inspired them.

Did you know that it’s Teacher Appreciation Week? I wouldn’t be here without the help of some very cool teachers. (Thank you, Mrs. Moore and Mr. Morgan!) Want to give a shout out to one of yours? Tell us about your favorite teachers… you never know, they may read this blog.
