Book of the Week in all its faux-mustachioed glory

Let’s get one thing straight: The world of facial hair is vast and fascinating. I could write about it for days on end and not run out of jokes, pop cultural references, gender observations, historical data, and images – oh my god – the images, but this is Blurb’s blog and it’s time for Book of the Week. So I must focus. On mustaches. And a book.

Open the preview of MUSTACHE, Photographs of a Mustache Ball by Joshua Lambert and get ready to smile. In my case, I laughed out loud. Joshua put together a collection of images from an event known as the Mustache Ball. Apparently one does not need an actual mustache to attend, you just need to honor the ‘stache by crafting one out of anything you have lying around. Just look at the book’s cover; a finger with the word “mustache” written on it will do, if you place it exactly where a mustache should go. Inside we see feathers, pipe cleaners, and I can only imagine what comes next.

Thank you, Joshua. Your book has made a long week much more amusing.

Everyone’s got an opinion on facial hair. Love the soul patch, but feel ambivalent towards a nicely groomed goatee? Let your hair down and tell us what you really think.
