Puppies are my kryptonite. I am powerless against them. It’s the way they flop and pant. Gets me every single time. Grown dogs win me over too; especially when they have that funny trait where they obviously think they’re human. Or better yet, I love it when a teacup poodle thinks he’s a wolf or a mastiff thinks she’s a lap dog.
I bet Amy Soper knows what I mean. She’s a pet and wedding photographer out of Seattle and the author of our Book of the Week, RuFF SPoTS, Some dogs I know… Amy specializes in personality driven photos and that comes across in her dog book. One tiny dog snarls with a street-smart canine toughness even though it’s dressed in a fashionable, bright orange quilted vest. A pug stops just short of licking the lens. Mutts appear to smile, as they are wont to do. And I think there’s a weimaraner pup on page 10. Want to see more? Southpaw Photography is where Amy showcases many of her photos; hedgehogs, parrots, horses, lizards, and cats included. And right, brides, too.

Congratulations, Amy. Each shot in your book really captured a certain something. We found it to be a striking collection of colorful, charismatic animal images. Even the cat-lovers among us got into RuFF SPoTS.
Have you made any pet books lately? Been on safari lately? Unleash your inner animal and tell us about it.
