Three months ago we introduced our beautiful custom Notebooks. And now, because you asked for it, we’re introducing our new custom Weekly Planners. You can fill them with 12 months of your beautiful photography, just in time for the New Year and the holiday season.
Our Custom Planners are super useful and incredibly easy to make. Just open up the latest version of Blurb BookSmart®, select “Start a new book,” and choose “Weekly Planner” from the list. ↓
The templates offer a month view, weekly views, and places to put your images (color or black and white). And don’t forget the front and back covers. ↓
Each weekly planner is set at 135 pages, but you can add extra pages for notes, photos, or doodles. Just click the “Add Page” button and select the type of page you’d like to add. ↓
And if you want to get really custom, you can change backgrounds and create custom photo layouts. ↓
It’s a very cool, very fun thing. Because even in this age of iPhones, Androids, and synced calendars, there’s something special about having – or giving – a Weekly Planner that you made. And if you’re a professional photographer, or just someone looking to get your work out there, they make for pretty great promotional pieces too.
Get started now.

Kent,
I do like the way they look!
Can you tell me when creating the weekly planners is there a way to change the Font color of the calendar, I’m able to do the month ans the year but not the numbers (days)? and within the weekly pages all at one time?
Hey Nora,
Unfortunately that’s not something you can do with it currently. But we appreciate the feedback. It’s a good idea.

Can I choose the year required for the weekly planner? Say I wanted to give auntie a present of planners for the next 5 years. Can I choose the calendar year and it will adjust the month days and date for that year?
Hey Ian,
You’re really thinking ahead. Right now we only have 2012. But if we know this is something people want to see, it’s something we may be able to introduce.
cheers

I made a Blurb 2012 planner and really like how it turned out. I would love if Blurb could reduce the number of pages per planner so that it brings the price point down to a level consistent with the going rate of planners. As it is $24 for a softcover planner (my price) prices it out of the public range. I’d love to be able to produce planners to sell. Why not make it a monthly one with less pages – large enough space to write an appointment or note – but overall less pages, thereby reducing the cost into the teens for softcover? Something to consider for 2013?
Hey Donna,
We’re happy to see the positive response to our Weekly Planners. I’m not sure what changes we’ll be making to our Planners in the future, but all the feedback really helps us.

I just received my 2012 planner and I love it. I get to carry pictures of my grandchildren and my schedule with me everywhere. One thing I would like to see changed is to add the dates (actual numbers) to the weekly pages nest to the actual day of the week. The date range is at the top of the page but when I want to add an appointment I have to count on my fingers to see what day to put it on. I have just written the numbers in and maybe I could have added them when making the book but I couldn’t figure out how.
Hey Mary,
I’m really happy you love it! And we appreciate the feedback on how to make our Weekly Planners better. This was a first step for us, and we’re looking to make improvements.
Thanks so much for writing, and for making your book with us.

First of all, I love you, Blurb! I want more! I made myself a 2012 planner and have really enjoyed using it so far this year. I finally got to pick a picture that I liked for my birthday month. SO, when is the 2013 version going to be available?
Hey Laura,
Thank you! Wow, you’re really working ahead. We like that. Stay tuned for more updates and be sure you’re signed up for our emails. We’ll keep you informed.

Hi,
thnx for a realyy good job with blurb service. And now question – I need to make very quick planner for years 2013-2015, it’s possible? If not, maybe perhaps only 2013 planner will be soon available?
Bests
Hey Kriss,
These aren’t available yet, but I’ll definitely let the BookSmart people know that our book makers are already thinking about next year!
I would love to create a 2013 planner. Is that possible? thanks you!
Hey Kirstes, I’m impressed that you’re thinking about 2013 already. We are working on this. No exact date, but I hope we have this out soon.

My boyfriend and I have been dating almost a year and I was looking for a planner starting in 2011 so I could write one reason I love him on each day of the year..is there a way that I can change the planner to start in September of 2011 and end in October of 2012?
Hey Brittany,
Congrats on your upcoming anniversary! That’s a really nice idea. Unfortunately, we didn’t have our planners back in 2011, so we don’t have templates for that time period. You can still do some pretty nice customized books. Here’s a cool example that might give you some inspiration: http://blog.blurb.com/book-of-the-week-a-customized-instagram-book/

I was wondering if there would be an option to change the dates for the weekly planner. For example, making one from next month til the end of next year or so. I think this option would be something everyone would like to see when creating their customized planners.
Hey Sharmaine,
At this point, we only have the template for 2012. But stay tuned for further updates to our Weekly Planners.

Hello,
It would be great if you could add functionality to alter the year in your Weekly Planners, I am just downloading the latest version but hoping it might already be there for 2013 at least.
Thanks,
Fionnbharr
Hang in there, we’ll have these ready soon!
Hi,
Is it possible to change the month names and week days? I’m from Portugal and I wish to to translate month and day of week.
Thanks,
Rui Rodrigues
Hey Rui,
They are editable, but if you download BookSmart from the our Portuguese site, you’ll find they’re already translated for you:

Hi Kent,
thanks for your response. I already downloaded portuguese version, but I still can’t understand how to edit text on this type of book. I’m able to change font, size and type, but I was not able to edit the text on any part of the book.
Thanks again,
Rui Rodrigues
Hey Rui,
BookSmart won’t let you alter the particular month or day names. I think that’s hardcoded in there. Are you not seeing the month and day names in Portuguese?

Hi,
I’m putting together a planner for 2013. By mistake I deleted the January calendar page. Now booksmart wont let me insert a new calendar page for january. Is there any solution to this?
Hey Alex, If you haven’t closed out BookSmart since you did it, you should be able to Undo the deletion. If that doesn’t work, I’m afraid there’s no other way than starting again. We do make it a little bit easier by letting you choose “Start new project with these photos” so at least you’ll have all the photos you used.
I’ll let our product team know that this is something we should think about in future versions.

Hi Kent,
Im trying to create a planner for 2013 and the pop-up window for chosing the year/start day of the week ect does not appear as shown in the tutorial. Is there anywhere else like the Menu option where I can change that setting once the planner project is already open?
Thanks,
Barbara
Hey Barbara,
That’s the only place that it will show up. It’s strange that you’re not seeing it. Be sure that you’r choosing to start a Weekly Planner in Blurb BookSmart. If you’re still having trouble, try contacting our Support Team, and they can help you out: http://blur.by/Teoa6W

Hi Kent,
two questions/suggestions:
1) In a planner I’d like to mark holidays by giving the day/date a special color or name. As I understand these fields can not be edited now? Is there another way short of creating a custom page for the weeks in question?
2) I’d like to create books with identical layout/content in different languages. Do I have to download different (language-) versions of BookSmart or is there a way to download only templates in different languages?
Thanks,
Wolf
Hey Wolf,
1) With the new version of BookSmart you can change the font and color of specific days. And you can type in the individual days too. So you can mark birthdays and holidays that way. You can also add an image to the footer of every page.
2) Yes, we do have different language versions of BookSmart. If you go to the individual BookSmart pages (there’s a country selector at the top and bottom of every page) you could download them (since they have the same application names, be sure not to over-write the English-language versions, so you don’t lose anything). Of course, the whole program will be in the other language. I’m afraid that’s the only way.

Thanks for your response, Kent.
Now you have to tell me how I can change font/color of specific days…
I’m running version 3.4.3 (which appears to be the most recent one) on a Mac. When I change font and/or color of any text in the planner section – which BookSmart allows me to do – ALL text changes, i.e. not only the one of say Thursday, Sept 23, but of all days throughout the planner.
So what’s the hidden keystroke to change font size and color of only one specific day?
looking forward to your answer,
Wolf
Hey Wolf,
You’re right, my mistake. Font is a global change. However, you can type any sort of notation into the box below. I’m sorry for the confusion.
