Hudson Butchers, a Calgary-based fine foods and natural meats shop, wanted to promote their start up with a printed brochure without dealing with a huge print run or incurring high costs, so they turned to Blurb.
We were so impressed with the results that we caught up with founder Bao Nhan to see what she thought of the experience.
1. Start-up businesses are challenged with getting the word out and building a customer base. Why did your business choose to do it with a Blurb brochure?
We needed to articulate our vision. And to do that we needed a compelling, convincing document to communicate this vision to our business partners, potential suppliers, and customers.
2. Why a brochure as opposed to another kind of marketing campaign?
While digital and social media were affordable and quick solutions to communicating with our partners, we were looking for a more controlled, tangible, and professional method of sharing our concept – without having to commit to a full marketing campaign with minimum print runs. The Blurb brochure allowed us to create professional-quality marketing material with the freedom to modify and evolve the document as required.
3. So then why a brochure and not a book?
The brochure is a condensed, 15-page version of the Hudson Butchers business plan. And the brochure format offered us an affordable solution for printing this smaller scale document.
4. What has been the response to your brochure?
Response to the Hudson Butchers brochures has been impressive. Our friends, partners, and future customers have been sharing them with their community, creating interest, buzz, and opportunities.
5. We have to ask: Why Blurb?
We’d seen the quality of Blurb’s book products and were very impressed by the quality of the print, paper, and binding. Other similar web-based services often limit design solutions with templates, whereas Blurb provides easy solutions to fully customized printing, allowing us to skip the custom design and print houses, and of course save money in the process.
6. Any plans for more Blurb books?
We can’t wait to print our Hudson Butchers recipe books once we’re up and running!
Thanks, Bao. We can’t wait to see them. For more information on how you can make your own brochure with Blurb, visit http://www.blurb.com/brochure.
