Most people take photos when they travel. Joaquin Gonzalez Dorao paints.

I guess it’s natural that a freelance illustrator and member of the Spanish Society of Watercolour Artists would paint their own travel journal. Still, Joaquin’s book feels particularly exceptional.

Indochina Travel Diary features watercolors that he hand-painted during a 20 day trip across Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand. The artwork is interspersed with personal observations and informative, historical details. Open the preview. I think you’ll see why he is a two time 1st prize winner of an annual travel diaries competition.
