Remember those hidden 3-D image posters that were popular for 15 minutes during the early ‘90s? You’d stare and stare and maybe find the right angle to see the 3-D shape jump out amidst thousands of colorful flecks. We don’t want BookSmart to be that kind of experience. If you don’t see all the changes we’ve added to the software, let us clearly point them out for you.

More color choices for book covers and inside pages.

If you’re in Edit Mode in BookSmart, you can click on any book page and select Background to change the color of that page.

A much easier way to make text and style changes throughout your book in areas like the headers and footers where you see your title, chapter names, and page numbers.

Again, if you’re in Edit Mode in BookSmart, click on any page’s footer. Look at the bottom of a page and find the outlined box surrounding the area typically where your page number is. Once you’ve clicked inside a footer, an automatic pop-up menu lets you select:
1) What your footer will show (page numbers, your book’s title, etc.)
2) Which pages to apply your footer changes to (a chapter, only left pages, all pages, only the page you’re working on, etc.)

After that, click the Apply button and you’re all set. You can also do this same exact thing with your headers.

A faster way to move multiple pages from one section of your book to another. This feature also makes it easy to delete lots of pages at once.

You can add and remove pages using the Add Page and Remove Page buttons, but now you can also move whole pages from one section of your book to another by dragging the pages within the page-view thumbnail area at the bottom of the main editing window. Click on a thumbnail page and drag it where you want it. The other pages will automatically adjust around the change.

If you want to move multiple pages, then click on each thumbnail page holding down the Shift key while you select the pages. When you drag the pages, you’ll be moving all of the ones you selected.

Need to delete many pages at once? Again, use the page-view thumbnail area at the bottom of the main editing window to select all the pages you want to delete, holding down the Shift key so you get all of the ones you want. Once they are all selected, simply hit delete and those pages will be removed from your book.

If you have more questions, our Help section is the place to start. Oh, and here’s how to see those hidden images inside 3D artwork.

  1. Would be really nice if Booksmart could import local files in bulk like it does for flickr or picasa.

    Thanks!
