Photography exhibits around the world

The Blurberati are a helpful group. Whenever I need some extra blog fodder, one of them always has something interesting to share.

Today it was Kathy. She discovered BLDG BLOG’s post on hotels in the afterlife. It features some creepy/cool images from Vienna’s Architekturzentrum photography exhibit of “the concrete skeletons of five-star hotel complexes” abandoned on Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.

This made me wonder what other photography shows are going on right now. So I did a search and these jumped out:

The Moscow House of Photography currently features Xavier Zimbardo’s Le scare des couleurs. It’s hard to believe such vibrant colors can be captured like this, without the help of Photoshop.

At the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, a few exhibits stood out: Color Chart and Design and the Elastic Mind.

The South African National Gallery, one of the Iziko Museums of Cape Town, is showing Reality Check. It’s a chance to view contemporary art photography from South Africa.

In Japan, the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography is hosting Beauty Convulsed, an exhibit on surrealism and photography.

The Auckland Art Gallery in New Zealand has a Laurence Aberhart exhibit. He is known as New Zealand’s most eminent photographer.

If you find yourself in Turkey, the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art has a photography exhibit on Russian Pictorialism called Quiet Resistance.

I could go on and on, but this would probably work better if I help you find a museum close to where you are. If you hit any brilliant exhibits this weekend, make sure to report back here.
