A hearty thanks to all of you who submitted your Blurb books for consideration to be shown at PhotoIreland Festival 2011, International Festival of Photography and Image Culture. The selected entries will be showcased from 15-17 July at the Blurb stand, as part of the Book & Magazine Fair.
We were honored to receive hundreds of fantastic book submissions from Blurbarians worldwide. After much consideration, 20 books were chosen. All were fantastic and we loved seeing the variety. Below are just a few highlights.
‘My Car is a Rolls Royce’ by Chris Collins and Simon Hayward is a wonderful book that looks at the condition of small town Britain and explores a once industrious region, now redundant and decaying, where both its people and environment try to retain their identity as a new Britain rises from the rubble of the old.
‘Why I was Born in Russia’ in which photographer Yury Toroptsov invites viewers to follow him on a trip to his native Russia.
‘Raw Materials’ a book by Steve Ryan that looks at the work of the people who hunt and prepare meat eaten in Ireland.
These are just a few of the Blurb books we’ll be showing off at PhotoIreland 2011. If you’re going to the festival, please come by the Blurb booth to check out the rest and say hello. We’d love to see you. We’ll also be hosting some Blurb events at the festival, so mark your calendars and join us.
