It’s official – the earth now boasts seven billion residents. That’s what the United Nations Population Fund estimates. According to them, the seventh billion person was born today somewhere on the planet.

To mark the occasion, the New York Times (NYT) asked Lynsey Addario, a Delhi-based photographer, to photograph some of the babies born there today and they’re asking you to help show these new earthlings a view of the world they’re coming into.

Submit your “view of the world” photo to the New York Times. Think about what you’d like them to know about the world today. The Times will choose a selection of photos, publish them on Lens, the NYT photo blog, and give each of the babies photographed by Lynsey a keepsake box containing a selection of 100 of the “world view” photographs. Find out more and submit your photo. It’s your chance to create a time capsule of the world as you know it.

  1. I couldn’t submit anything. They weren’t accepting any submitting. :-(
