The parrots of Telegraph Hill fly outside my apartment windows. It’s sort of thrilling to see something so exotic so close in such a big city.

Matthew Jorgensen probably gets a much bigger rush photographing birds of prey, considering how close he gets. He is the photographer and author behind Raptor, our Book of the Week. He majors in Animal Science at Cornell University and also blogs about his photography and work with this type of bird.
