The Dead are back on the road with original band members Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann. What’s this have to do with Blurb? Well, aside from being major Deadheads around these parts (we’re in San Francisco after all), we’ve also teamed up with The Dead to create collectors’ edition books from each of the 17 cities during their tour.
Longtime Grateful Dead photographer Jay Blakesberg will be capturing the performance, the crowds and all the goodness in-between, and those images will be put into books showcasing each concert. But wait, it gets better. Not only can you buy the concert book from your Dead show, but you can add your own personal photo to the front cover. Whether it’s a shot of you and your friends dancing on the lawn, or Phil Lesh signing your shirt, you can bring the cover to life with your photography to commemorate your Dead show in a personal way.
And by the way – this type of artist-fan engagement is a totally new thing in the world of music merchandising. The Dead are known to be trailblazers and rule breakers, and well, so are we. We’d love any feedback you might have about the experience, so feel free to drop us a line in the comments.
Books go on sale April 16th at The Dead page here. Books will be available 72 hours after the end of each show.
And finally, enjoy a little behind the scenes peek at The Dead checking out early copies of rehearsal books backstage.
