One of the best parts about reading a really good book is being able to proudly recommend it to a friend afterward – and visa versa. In fact, the last several books I’ve picked up were solely due to a friend’s “must read” recommendation. In turn, I’ve recommended those books to someone else, and so on, and so on. That same idea is the blueprint behind our new “Recommend It” and “Bookmark It” features that recently launched on Blurb.com. Both are simple tools designed to help spread the word about any book in our bookstore.
Recommend It allows you to easily send a book recommendation to anyone’s inbox. Just find the book you want to share, click the Recommend It link, and enter the email addresses of your choosing.
Similarly, Bookmark It allows you to share your Blurb book recommendations with your friends and family – or with the entire world. Again, just find the book of your liking, and click on the related Bookmark It link. Choose a personal bookmarking service like Google Reader or My Yahoo to keep your commendations within your circle of immediate friends, or share your suggestions with the masses by passing a book link along to a social aggregator like Digg or StumbleUpon.
So, have fun with our Bookmark It and Recommend It tools. Who knows? Maybe one day you’ll find your book gathering a crowd on Digg.
