What do you get a grandpa who goes by the name GUS, a.k.a. Grandma’s Ultimate Stud? No grandfatherly golf gear would do, so Anne Raimondi’s entire family conspired to make a custom Blurb cookbook with all the food that reminded them of GUS. The adults in the family had smoked lamb sausage gourmet treats in mind, but their eight kids aged 2 1/2 to 13 had ideas of their own – many of them involving Cheetos.
As Anne reveals in this week’s podcast, the secret to the runaway birthday hit Gustronomic Delights was equal parts fun and flavor. The book was whipped up in secret during a weekend getaway, and the kids soon seized creative control over pictures and the most outrageous recipes. Three-year-old Mia’s recipe for popcorn calls for pink napkins and swiveling hips, while nose plugs might come in handy for making “Dragon’s Breath Crackers” as directed by Anne’s son J.P.
But to get these recipes and more, you’ll have to listen to the podcast … try one out if you dare, and let us know how it turns out for you. And if you’ve got any of your own secret family recipes to share in a Blurb cookbook, let us know how that goes too.
