Boing Boing alerts us to the fact that today marks the beginning of National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo as its creators affectionately call it.
National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.
For all those of us wanting to write the great American novel in a lifetime, writing one in 30 days seems like a bit of a stretch.
So, why attempt to write 50,000-word novel in a month? Why not?
Because you can. Because you have that great idea. Because if you don’t do it now, you’ll never do it. Because it sounds like fun. Because you already have 43,278 words ready to go.
Anyone have other good reasons to get started on that novel? Any Blurbarians partaking in this event? Let us know by posting a comment below.
