The following post is a special dispatch from our friends in the UK Blurb office about World Book Day, which happens in the UK on March 7. The rest of the world celebrates World Book Day on April 23.

It’s World Book Day in the UK today and we’re celebrating!

Of course, every day is an International Book Day at Blurb (our lovely customers across the planet are making beautiful print books and ebooks 365 days a year).

But today we’re putting an extra bright spotlight on your creations. Because together on this big book-lovers day maybe we’ll inspire even more people to make, share, and buy amazing books. Special books. Show-off books. Keep-me books. I love you books.

So, just as soon as we’d finished eating cake, we asked four multilingual members of the splendid Blurb EU team:  “Which Blurb book do you secretly wish you’d made?”

Here are their replies…

This book was the winner of our Photography Book Now competition when I joined Blurb three years ago. I have always loved it; the incredible cover draws you in to the beautiful glimpses of industrialized life along the Ukraine’s Black Sea coast. What amazed me most was the balance between the images and the book design. There is a quiet feel to the design and photographs that reflect the location, the story and the photographer’s method.

Travelling is my passion! I have always dreamed of travelling to Cuba to enjoy a coconut filled with rum while watching the sunrise, seas bluer than the sky and the inviting contrast of tradtion vs. modernity. Colorful houses and cars filling the street with chaos. Arnaud Späni’s travel book is the one I wish I could make because it means I would have discovered amazing Cuba. It inspires me with every page.

Deep inside I wish I made this book because every page is designed differently. The inside is fantastic, the colours in the pictures and the little squares of text with it make the book really interesting to read and to browse. The content is all about travelling and that makes the book so varied! Although the book is incredible it doesn’t have a ‘glamorous’ appearance and that is why I think the paper type fits the book perfectly. Not too shiny, but very decent matte and a little bit of a thicker paper than standard. This way the author made the book amazing!

What I love about my book is that I am (finally) holding in my hands 12 months of great memories in: 353 pages; 1062 photos; and many hours of fun work in putting it together! Priceless!
